Classifier Calibration: with application to threat scores in cybersecurity

چکیده
This paper explores the calibration of a classifier output score in binary classification problems. A calibrator is function that maps arbitrary score, testing observation, onto $[0,1]$ to provide an estimate for posterior probability belonging one two classes. Calibration important reasons; first, it provides meaningful probability; second, puts scores different classifiers on same scale comparable interpretation. The presents three main contributions: (1) Introducing multi-score calibration, when more than single observation. (2) idea process are nothing but features classifier, hence proposing expanding higher dimensions boost calibrator's performance. (3) Conducting massive simulation study, order 24,000 experiments, incorporates configurations, addition experimenting real datasets from cybersecurity domain. results show there no overall winner among calibrators and configurations. However, general advices practitioners include following: Platt's calibrator~\citep{Platt1999ProbabilisticOutputsForSupport}, version logistic regression decreases bias small sample size, has very stable acceptable performance all experiments; our suggested better majority including datasets. In addition, can help some experiments.

Nearly Optimal Change-Point Detection with an Application to Cybersecurity
We address the sequential change-point detection problem for the Gaussian model where baseline distribution is Gaussian with variance 2 and mean such that 2 = a , where a > 0 is a known constant; the change is in from one known value to another. First, we carry out a comparative performance analysis of four detection procedures: the Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) procedure, the Shiryaev–Roberts (SR) pr...
متن کاملCalibration of teachers ’ scores
In the ranking of the teaching effectiveness of staff members through their student feedback scores, there can be a problem if it is perceived to be more difficult to obtain high scores in some courses than others. The result would be, therefore, that staff taking ‘difficult’ courses are disadvantaged. For example, it is often claimed that GEM and courses at the 1000 level are more difficult to...

abstract type-ii fuzzy logic has shown its superiority over traditional fuzzy logic when dealing with uncertainty. type-ii fuzzy logic controllers are however newer and more promising approaches that have been recently applied to various fields due to their significant contribution especially when the noise (as an important instance of uncertainty) emerges. during the design of type- i fuz...

متن کاملCalculating classifier calibration performance with a custom modification of Weka
Calibration is often overlooked in machine-learning problem-solving approaches, even in situations where an accurate estimation of predicted probabilities, and not only a discrimination between classes, is critical for decision-making. One of the reasons is the lack of readily available open-source software packages which can easily calculate calibration metrics. In order to provide one such to...
